I'm now a board member of the New Zealand Society of Genealogists (NZSG)

On June 28th, at NZSG's Annual General Meeting, I was inducted into the board of directors of this extraordinary nationwide organisation.

The New Zealand Society of Genealogists is testament to the power of many people working together, very often on a voluntary basis, to help many more people trace their ancestry and get a clearer picture of the past.

This work is close to my heart, as you'll know if you follow my One Ancestor at a Time series. And the work is even more important now, as state-run resources scale down, both in New Zealand and overseas.

As well as supporting NZSG, I've also joined the board of Oratia Church. Since last year, I've been on the organising committee of Flock House Remembered. The scale of organisations vary, but the work of governance is the same - as is the need for legacy organisations to modernise and attract new people.

For those who have known me for a long time, don't worry, I haven't forgotten the world of high-tech marketing. In fact, these are the skills I want to bring to these two venerable organisations. I'm looking forward to the journey.
